Washington Alien Sightings
Sighting One: Flying Saucers
The modern UFO era arguably began in Washington. On June 24, 1947, a pilot was flying near Mount Rainier when he spotted nine crescent-shaped objects moving at incredible speeds—estimated at 1,200 mph. He described their motion as “like saucers skipping on water,” coining the term “flying saucer” that would become embedded in American culture. His sighting sparked a wave of reports across the country and remains one of the most influential UFO encounters in history.
Sighting Two: Lights Over Shoreline
In July 2024, a resident of Shoreline reported witnessing two triangle-shaped crafts that appeared out of thin air around 3:30 a.m. The crafts hovered briefly before heading south toward Puget Sound, flying much lower than commercial aircraft and emitting no sound. The witness described the encounter as surreal and unnerving, noting the crafts’ sudden appearance and precise movement. This sighting adds to a growing list of unexplained aerial phenomena in the Puget Sound region.
Sighting Three: The Richland Twin UFOs
On November 13, 2024, a resident in Richland captured video footage of two unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) on their cell phone. The objects appeared to move in tandem, displaying erratic flight patterns and glowing with an unusual intensity. Though the footage was brief, it sparked local interest and debate, with some suggesting drones or experimental aircraft, while others leaned toward extraterrestrial explanations. No official analysis has been released to date.
